What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine. At Seitai Acupuncture, we practice Japanese acupuncture. During an acupuncture procedure, an acupuncturist inserts thin needles into specific points in your body. This is to correct energy inbalances. When performed by a licensed professional, acupuncture is very safe and not painful. It is used to increase general health, as well as for specific conditions such as pain, stress, anxiety, and infertility.

What is Infertility?

Medically, infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after a year of trying. Reasons for infertility include female infertility, male infertility, and unexplained infertility. Western medicine uses many techniques to treat infertility, including prescription medications, hormone injections, and insemination. Many couples choose acupuncture for fertility in combination with other medical interventions.

Why Try Acupuncture for Fertility?

Several studies have shown the effectiveness of acupuncture in promoting pregnancy. A review on acupuncture for fertility published in the Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine found that acupuncture can improve ovulation and possibly even male infertility. Acupuncture has also been found to help increase the success rate for in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Women with a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) are not able to ovulate normally, making it difficult to conceive. A 2017 review published in the journal Medicine found that acupuncture is likely to increase ovulation in women with PCOS.

Couples experiencing infertility also often experience stress and anxiety. Acupuncture can help alleviate some of this stress by relaxing and harmonizing your body. It's important to note that no fertility treatment has a 100 percent success rate. However, we believe acupuncture can help increase your chances of conceiving so you can realize your dreams of starting a family.
